On Friday 31st of January, RDI hub Programme Associate Chris Barrett ran another engaging Founder Insights session with Chris Kelly & Fionn Barron of Tracworx. They shared details of their incredible journey and attendees at the event were able to ask questions at the end of the interview.
Here are three key takeaways from the discussion:
On Investment:
“…And that’s the thing that people never tell you about investment, is you never actually get a no. And that’s the really frustrating thing with it. The line is ‘let’s reconnect in six months.’ And if they say that, that’s actually a no.” – Chris Kelly
On Building a Team:
“…It’s not the idea, it’s the team that you’re investing in. It’s super important because, if you’re out there raising with a remotely weak team, it doesn’t matter what idea you have, you’ll never be able to execute on it.” – Fionn Barron
On Staying True to Your Vision:
“…It is very important that you keep straight to your strategy, keep straight to your vision and say, we’re not going to change our business model to suit what maybe the investor is looking for to try and get invested in. Because investment isn’t the end goal. It’s an enabler of your strategy or an enabler of what you want to do.”
– Chris Kelly
