Last month our Programmes Associate Gearoid Kearney ran the first ever NDRC Startup Sprint, powered by the RDI Hub. Located in the University of Limerick it was an incredible day. From 10am to 5.30pm, the energy in the building was electric. We had 14 teams come up with ideas and develop prototypes during the day with the support of mentors. It was amazing to see the creativity and innovation shown by the participants. This was evident when they demonstrated their prototypes to our esteemed judges in the evening.

Winners: ‘Most Innovation’ category was won by Sightline Insights – who created an AI system for sentiment analysis for customers and ‘Most Progress’ category was won by VirTown who created a learning tool for teaching maths to children.

Stephen Kinsella, Professor of Economics KBS & Co-Director of Immersive Software Engineering, University of Limerick described this as: “An incredible opportunity to connect our most ambitious students to those interested in entrepreneurship and innovation in our community.”

Gearoid Kearney, Programmes Associate at the RDI hub added “The RDI Hub is delighted to bring the NDRC Startup Sprint to Limerick, providing a vibrant setting for innovators to turn their ideas into prototypes and to connect with the thriving tech ecosystem in the region.”
